Three Cheers For Dan Hodapp & His First Jimmy Fallon Appearance
The only thing that made staying in on Friday night bearable was being home to see my dear friend Dan’s appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. He was cast as the “groom” for a bit they filmed on Friday the 13th. He really sold “surprised groom”. I cried and that ain’t just the Hydrocodone talking… maybe whispering. His appearance was brief but the camera stayed on him long enough for all of us cheering at home to get a glimpse of that money maker mug. WIT and DC’s loss is truly New York City’s gain. We miss you buddy and can’t wait to see more!
R.I.P. Dom DeLuise
Even though most of this clip has him behaving like a buffoon. It was his subtlety that made me howl the most. When a big man goes small it’s hysterical. 2:06 – 2:13 is my favorite moment in the whole scene.
FYLBC: Never Before More Than I Had To Be!
I first saw this Kids in the Hall commercial when I was 15. I fell in love with Scott Thompson immediately and with his character “Fiore”, such committment. To give you an idea of how insane I am, whenever I push myself or sacrifice beyond my own comfort level (i.e. waking at 5am to do FYLBC and not hitting snooze) I say, in my best “Fiore”, either aloud or in my head, “NEVER BEFORE MORE THAN I HAD TO BE!“ It still gives me the chuckle I need to get my shizz done.
Remembering Bea Arthur
I have spent the last half hour trying to find this bit that Bea Arthur did on the 1987 or ‘88 American Comedy Awards on youtube… I taped it off the TV when it first aired and watched it repeatedly (like any normal little girl) in order to master the delivery and inflection of a salty post-menopausal woman that’s still “frisky”. Mind you, I was completely clueless about the sexual innuendo she was about to lay down and didn’t really know what she was talking about… other than something big.My friend “Smalls” Wrote A Show
Smalls wrote a show that is being performed tonight at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. It’s called “Grandma and the F&*! Yous”. I’m pretty sure it’s a Naitivity play. If you are in the NYC area and need some hard laughs, go see this show.
Fun facts about Smalls:
- vegan from Long Island
- belts a mean “Heartbreaker” at Karaoke
- has broken many a stage bottle over my head
- is made of sparkles
